Almost like deja vu all over again as storms rip through the Best Southwest, with some of the most severe damage landing in DeSoto.
Fourteen years ago this month, Tornados tore through DeSoto and then Lancaster leaving a path of destruction, and three deaths.
Fortunately this time around it appears residents escaped largely unscathed, but the same cannot be said for their homes, their property or their nerves.
Fences, roofs, vehicles … the path of destruction looks to begin around the 1200-1300 block of North Hampton and moved east from there, setting its sights on 1400 blocks of Hubert and Honor, and then on to Essex and Manor streets.
From there, damage reports have come in from the MCM Grande Hotel and FunDome (the former Holiday Inn) and then across I-35E and into northern portions of Lancaster where damage reports do not seem to be as severe.
