Today Newspapers Weblogs

New commenting policy

Welcome to the Today Newspapers Weblogs. Up to this point (April 29, 2009), comments have been allowed anonymously on this site.
From here forward, we are instilling a new policy, one similar to our letters to the editor policy over on the print side of things.
Before we will administratively allow any comments to postings here (as well as on stories at we will require that the poster have first sent a registration request in e-mail form to the administrator at In that registration request we require a full name and phone contact so that we may verify identification. Posters will still be allowed to use a registered alternate online name if so desired but we require actual identification in our office registry.
We are doing this so that we will not have to shut off commenting functions completely, as some of our colleagues have already done to our north.
Thank you for your understanding and your interest.
